La Ballona Elementary School
Join La Ballona Lions on our Walk to School Days and help your child’s class walk their way to victory!
First Walk to School Day: October 9
Traffic at La Ballona can be challenging, so we encourage families to walk or bike to school when possible. A short walk to school will benefit you, your children, your school and your community. Plus the extra one-on-one time is extra special.
To help make this fun and easy, La Ballona presents a monthly Walk to Day School Day. Beginning Wednesday October 9 and continuing each First Wednesday thereafter, families can participate by walking to school in groups or on their own. Participating students will be have their “shoe tags” scanned and help their class to victory!
Have to drive? No problem. Please park 3 blocks away and ease the traffic at La Ballona. There is ample parking in the neighborhoods to the West (near and around Telefson Park) and South (off Elenda). Plus there is easy parking in the the Ralphs parking lot.
Volunteers Needed! If you are available to assist with walk to school days (guiding kids, tracking participants, promoting), we need you! Please contact Steven Jones for more info.
Parent Travel Survey
Coming Soon!
Beginning in September, we will be asking parents how they get to school and how we can make it easier. We will ask you take a few minutes to complete the Parent Travel Survey and let us know how you get to/from school and how we can improve the program.

Take the 3 Block Challenge
We encourage parents to take the 3 Block Challenge by parking and walking 3 blocks to school at least once a week. Refer to the map to find easy areas to park and receommended routes to school. Parking just a few blocks away goes a long way towards reducing traffic and pollution around La Ballona while adding some extra activity to your child’s day. There is plenty of street parking (highlighted in purple) on streets like Tilden, Huron, Westwood, Midway, Arizona and Marietta. You can alos park and walk from Vets Park or Culver Center (please be mindful of all parking restrictions).
