The Holidays are Here!

Cooler weather is upon us but that’s no reason to stop walking and rolling!

Grab a sweater and lace up those sneaks and join the fun on your school’s walk to school day the week of December 2nd!

Pedestrian Safety Week – October 7-11

In honor of Pedestrian Safety Month, all our elementary schools will be focused on making sure our students understand the essential safe walking and cycling best practices.

Each school will host a Pedestrian Safety Assembly and all week long kids can do a new activity to understand the importance of walking and biking more and driving less. Kids can take their complete calendar to Culver CityBus (corner of Duquesne and Jefferson) for a free gift. Download the activity calendar HERE

Monday: Farragut

Parent Travel Survey

We want to hear from you – no matter how you get to school!

Whether you walk, bike, carpool, use transit or drive, how you get to school matters. Please take this brief survey and tell us a little about your school commute, known barriers and how we can work to create safer, healthier school zones.

You can also enter to win a free water bottle and spoke lights (winners will be chosen at random each week from survey submissions that include e-mails).

Follow these links to take the survey:

Our goal is to encourage families to rethink their commutes to school, leaving space for those who have less options.

Each of our schools participate in active Walk to School programs. From the weekly Dragon Wagon at Linwood E. Howe, to monthly activities at the other elementary schools and daily encouragement at CCMS and CCHS, our schools are on board with reducing traffic and pollution at the school sites.

How can you help? Remember, walking or biking to school does not necessarily mean door-to-door or even everyday. Each block and every day not driven matters. So whether it’s once a month, once a week or daily, be part of the solution however it works best for you.

Visit your schools page for updates on walk to school events and maps recommending walk to school routes, bike routes, park and walk zones and transit stops. We also recommend connecting with neighbors and school friends to form carpools whenever possible.
