Welcome back to school middle schoolers – this day is all about YOU!
Middle school is a great time for students to learn to bike to school. They are looking for ways to express their independence and are ready to take on more responsibility. Biking to school also teaches kids life skills like time management, responsibility and good decision making.
Our Culver City Middle School Bike Day is designed to build confidence in the students by showing them how to bike safely to school and encouraging them to ride to school more often.
Students have the option of meeting up at their elementary school (or the one closest to them) and bike to CCMS with our instructors, or join us directly at the middle school (select your choice when registering tickets). Once at CCMS, they will learn:
- Rules of the road
- Safe riding skills
- Where and how to lock their bikes safely on campus
- How to load their bikes on Culver CityBus
Students who pre-register will also receive:
- Bike helmet
- Bike Lock
- Set of bike lights
- Reflective string backpack

Kids must bring:
- A bike in good working order
- Water
- Comfortable clothing including closed toe shoes
- Sunscreen
Note: Parents are welcome to attend, but this workshop is aimed for students. If you choose to accompany your kids, we ask that you observe only at CCMS. Attendance at the transit station and workshops will be limited and we will need the space and attention for the kids.
Bonus workshop: How to change an inner tube and clean a bike chain. After the Bike Day activities, we will have a bonus workshop from 12-1 pm to show kids how to change their inner tube and proper bike maintenance. This workshop is open to all students and parents.
