Meet the SRTS Coordinator
Walk ‘n Rollers, a local non-profit was selected to oversee the program in 2013 and again in 2017 and 2022 with its executive director, Jim Shanman, named Safe Routes to School Coordinator.
Jim is a native Angelino having grown up in nearby San Fernando Valley, though he and his wife Diane have called Culver City home since 1999. Their daughter attended Culver City public schools providing Jim deep insight to our school networks.
Jim has been involved in bicycle advocacy since 1997 and co-founded the Culver City Bicycle Coalition – now Bike Culver City. In 2012, Jim founded Walk ‘n Rollers who recently celebrated 10 years of providing Safe Routes to School programming in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Riverside counties.
Also in 2012, Jim was appointed to the Expo Phase 2 Bicycle Advisory Committee, representing County Supervisorial District 2 in the development of the Expo Bike Path. Jim is a League of American Bicyclists licensed League Cycling Instructor (LCI).
